Despite the difficulties encountered by Year 6 Pupils during the last year they successfully completed another externally set project. The theme for this year’s project was to investigate the subject of Thatching. It examined the possibilities of researching the history, materials, use of tools and types of thatching. There was also the opportunity to visit local thatched properties in Hatfield Heath which formed part of Village history. . Every Pupil from the class submitted work this year demonstrating ideas and interest in completing the project. There was a range of work with the majority producing either drawings or paintings of thatched cottages with some containing written information of their investigation. Use of Power Point, a 3D model, photography, and gate folded leaflets were amongst the submissions with some showing an ability in the use of basic graphic design. At the presentation it was interesting that finally as a cohort seeing others work for the first time their choice of winners was almost identical to that of the Society judges. Alfie, Scarlett, Jack, and Phoebe were the eventual recipients of Prizes and Certificates. The prize winners are featured in the photograph gallery August 2021.
